2 Days, 6 Functions, 5 months of planning. This Wedding is very special for numerous reasons. Let us see how we planned and designed this wedding, which is nothing less than a dream.

The Couple

Saumya, originally from Gorakhpur and Manish, from Mumbai, are College sweethearts and have been together ever since. On the first day of college, Manish fell in love with Saumya instantly when she went up to him and said Hello. We love to hear it from Saumya, as she describes it, Manish says even today “She had me at hello”

They did many of their firsts together, which also includes going to the US together. Now they call New York home. They had the dreamiest engagement in Paris, France In front of the Eiffel tower. When they decided to get hitched, they chose India’s favorite beach destination, Goa as their wedding location. A Wedding of two best friends who decided on forever..

Saumya, a strong opinionated, independent girl who knows exactly what she wants. She has a creative side and loves designing. She enjoys simple things in life and subtle designs. Her love for her family is quite evident and is very humble and a real sweetheart. We spent 5 months planning her wedding with her and at times miss those sweet conversations.  Manish is a sweet and handsome man, heads over heels in love with Saumya. He lets her take the lead and enjoys keeping her happy. They are a perfect fit, enjoy each other’s ambition and are each other’s biggest cheerleaders.

Decor & Functions

Traditional yet Contemporary Hotel Entrance
Welcome signages through out the Hotel Lobby

After getting to know Saumya, we understood we wanted to do something different for her wedding. She has a charming, fun, sweet yet fierce personality, modern yet traditional.  We wanted the décor to represent just that. We believe that there should not be just one photo corner but the entire space should be picturesque. Where the guest would love to take pictures of every corner. We are quite happy to say this wedding had many such beautiful corners. The wedding started with an evening Mehendi Party followed by Sangeet celebration.

The next day we had an early morning haldi ceremony followed by a pool party and rain dance. It was a sunset wedding followed by reception.

Personalised Welcome Hamper

Mehendi & Sangeet

The Mehendi and Sangeet were held at the same outdoor venue.  Mehendi was a day function and Sangeet a late evening one. It was a challenge for us to achieve this look décor wise, as we had to blend the theme in such a way it had to look good in the day as well as in the night. We can say it with much happiness that it turned out just as planned, colorful and glittery.  We are more than happy to say, everyone simply loved every element that was designed and implemented especially Saumya & Manish.

The entrance pathway was filled with custom made dream catchers with elephant prints on it, glitter danglers on the sides, and real citrus fruits like lemons and oranges to add breath of fresh colors to the entire space.

The main ceiling area was covered with same dream catchers and fairy lights, which were turned on for the Sangeet ceremony. We had four teepees made for guests to get their mehendi applied. Two were pastel pink and other two mint green, they had fairy lights on them too which were turned on for the sangeet ceremony.

The table pieces had different fruit centerpieces instead of one. For chair décor we had real oranges tied up with greens.

We had LED Screen for the Stage backdrop as we were going to show the couple’s journey together put up in an audio video format.  We had the glitter danglers and disco balls hanging around the LED screen and lots of them for the ceiling décor of the stage. The dance floor also was an LED Dance floor making it all look glittery and fun together, just what we wanted for the sangeet night.

The couple backdrop had vibrant colored fresh flowers on all three sides of the frame and the glitter danglers in the center, this combination turned out to be perfect for the dazzling pictures.

Our Couple changed their outfits for sangeet and we had a glittery pyro entry for them. The guests along with the couple glittered and shone too with their spectacular performances.

Haldi Ceremony

The next day there was an early morning haldi ceremony. The set up went on entire night for it. Saumya wanted subtle and traditional theme to it. The space chosen for haldi ceremony had good shade due to trees around it and was really cozy. It is very important for us to check the venues and then start planning the décor themes and other activities as a lot of things are planned as per the spaces chosen. We played with yellow and white marigolds and added elements like kaleeras, hand made parrots, origami’s and banana leaves.  The entire space looked soothing to the eyes and it had a very peaceful and positive energy to it. The couple entry was done with marigold flower shower. Everything looked absolutely amazing.

While this haldi ceremony was going on, one team was taking care of the requirements here and the other team was taking care of the pool party set up  and the Wedding set up simultaneously as we had these events one after the other post the Haldi Ceremony.

Pool Party

Now it was time for Pool Party and Rain Dance. Here, Saumya did not want a lot of cluster of décor. So we just let the place do its charm. There was a photo corner, pool party props Station, Rain Dance set up, Mocktail Station and of course how could we do without a DJ. The guests had a great time getting drenched in the rain dance and taking a dip in the pool.

The Wedding

After this it was the most important event, The Wedding. We always felt, Saumya would be able to carry something different and unique. So we planned to have a purple mandap with a tinge of pink blooms and sunflowers. It was a sunset wedding, and we had the sea as our backdrop. While the sun sets, it turns the sky into a mix of many beautiful colors like orange, yellow, pink and purple. So we thought why not mix all these colors and make it a Sunset Mandap. Yes that’s what we call it “Sunset Mandap” Saumya adored lotuses and we realized that while having décor discussions with her. So we added loads of lotus hangings on the mandap, the entrance arches, centerpieces, pathway and chair décor. We added bells as hangings as she wanted them. We too love adding bells to the wedding mandap, it gives a holy feel to it. The Mandap looked like Magic and when the varmala ceremony was taking place on the mandap, we had the beautiful sunset colors and the beach as backdrop. It looked like a dream that had turned into reality. Saumya’s yellow lehenga looked like a ray of sunshine. The mirror aisle was an icing on the cake.

We played with gold lanterns and other purple and yellow glass props for the entrance décor, centerpieces and pathway décor. The chairs were golden with white pearls on them. One cannot put down the beauty this all created together in words. One can only witness the Magic.

Our groom Manish entered in a vintage car and Saumya under a phoolon and bells ki chaddar. What was amazing to see was usually as per Hindu wedding rituals, the groom enters first, goes on the mandap and waits for the bride, but Saumya & Manish wanted to walk together towards the mandap holding hands as they are best friends getting married. They are equals in the relationship and want to walk hand in hand for a lifetime and face all situations together. We simply were in awe of this. This was the first time we saw a couple walking together to the mandap breaking all the inhibitions and hesitations. Their Varmala (Garlands) were also made keeping their outfits and the theme colors in mind. A mix of peach, pink and purple fresh flowers. We had an instrumental band perform during the wedding ceremony was on, which added to the surreal feel of everything created together.

Post the wedding ceremony we had the wedding reception. Saumya and Manish went to change their outfits and meanwhile we had a Bollywood unplugged band to entertain the guests. We had a sparkling entry planned for them through out the aisle and on the stage too. There was a reception stage set up for meet and greet. Remember we told you about “she had me at Hello”. Well, it plays such an important role in bringing them together, how could we not implement it somewhere. So here’s what we did. We created the reception stage with the neon sign saying, Yes you guessed it right “ She had me at hello” , Now they will have beautiful pictures to frame with their favourite tag line.

Unplugged Bollywood Band

This wedding is surely a trend setting one in so many ways. One we will cherish all our lives. We absolutely loved planning this wedding with Saumya and wish Saumya & Manish a life full of love, laughter and a friendship that only grows stronger with time.

Check out how we planned this trend setting Goa Destination Wedding in a month !

The Couple

Shalini and Sarvdaman is a match made in heaven. Shalini is a South Indian girl while Sarvdaman belongs to Himachal Pradesh. She is fierce, free spirited, strong headed, and a fashion fiesta. Sarvdaman is a self-made man with strong values, a man of few words who loves to pamper his ladylove. They both are driven by love and passion, are avid travellers, love to live life to the fullest and believe in making the most of every moment. They are truly madly deeply in love with each other and their love and affection for each other is an inspiration for others. Their life seems like a story out of a fairytale just like their wedding.

When we met them for the first time we knew this Goa Destination Wedding was going to be a different and unconventional wedding with the flavor of traditions from both South and North India. That’s why we decided to call this a 2 State wedding.

So what makes this Goa Destination Wedding a trend setting and a fairytale wedding?

  • To start with our couple just one fine day decided to tie the knot and set a date for just a month later!!
  • And decided to have a Goa Destination Wedding.
  • They had the most prestigious, Luxurious and picturesque venue in Goa as their Destination wedding venue- Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa and Taj Holiday Village.
  • This was a blend of modern and a traditional wedding, which saw traditions from both South and North India.
  • There were four functions planned. Haldi, Mehendi, Wedding and the Wedding Reception with offbeat décor themes.
  • The entire wedding was planned in just One Month! Yes, you heard it right.
  • Property visits, Booking of wedding vendors for all functions, designing and conceptualizing décor themes and ideas, Trousseau shopping and guests’ travel planning everything in one month.

All guests were travelling from different parts of the country and bringing all the planning together in just one month wasn’t an easy job. But we love challenges and we are so proud and happy to share that not only this Goa Destination wedding was a grand success but have been breaking the Internet from the time the first picture was out.

Wedding Logo

Their Wedding logo was not any ordinary logo. It was a cute caricature artwork that had the couple’s portrait and said 2 States One Love. This logo was incorporated in all the wedding collaterals like Wedding itineraries, hampers bags, Thank you tags, welcome boards etc

Wedding Functions and Wedding Décor

We wanted to design something unconventional and extraordinary yet keep it cozy and intimate for the décor. The idea was to bring the couple’s style and personalities into all the details of the wedding.

Haldi

Our first wedding function was the haldi. The idea was to do away with a traditional look, which is usually followed for a haldi ceremony. We designed an Enchanted Garden theme for the haldi with an unusual color palette of purple and orange. The backdrop for haldi was a-never-seen-before diamond shaped one, filled with purple orchids and coral roses. No marigolds no traditional props. Instead we used cups, saucers, and books as props. And the result! Everybody just loved and adored the theme and almost every wedding site featured it.

Mehendi

Our next wedding function was the Mehendi. It was an intimate gathering. So, we designed a bohemian theme, installing Teepees with lights, used some dreamcatchers to accentuate the theme, and what we personally loved was, we like to call it a ‘bonfire of lights’. It was a collection of fairy lights in between two teepees, which looked like a bonfire. We used a color palette of Mint green and pink for this cozy romantic Soiree. It turned out totally dreamy.  We also dolled up our bride and bridesmaids with fresh flowers and color-coordinated tiaras to match up the bohemian theme.  This set up was one of our favorites.

D-Day

The next day was the wedding ceremony. As the themes at other functions were unusual and offbeat, we wanted the Wedding to reflect Indian traditions yet keep it contemporary.  We decided to use a lot of kaleeras and bells. Bells signify purity and are considered sacred in Hindu religion. The sound of the bell also creates a holy and soothing atmosphere. They were extensively used in the mandap as that’s where the holy ceremony takes place. Not only the entrance and mandap were decorated with kaleeras and bells, we also used it on the Phoolon ki chaddar used for bridal entry. While our gorgeous Bride Shalini was making her entry with a holy mantra playing as the background score, the bells kept ringing making the atmosphere totally magical. Our bold and beautiful bride chose to wear Gucci sneakers for her wedding and she totally rocked the look.

The venue for the wedding was mesmerizing and a visual treat. It was a sea-facing venue with a huge lush green open lawn. We wanted to make the most of the huge space provided to us. Apart from the entrance, mandap and aisle décor, we had five other Photo Booth installations.  It kept the guests engaged and also gave them pictures to cherish for a lifetime.

As the guests were from Himachal Pradesh, they all performed famous Nati dance from that region. This dance is also listed in the Guiness book of World  Records as the largest folk dance. We were amused and amazed to see how beautifully they all performed this folk dance. No wonder the video of the dance at the wedding went viral and got more than 1,50,000 views in just a week.

Wedding Reception

For the wedding reception we had a venue on a hilltop with a stunning Sunset view. We chose a modern and chic Geometric Theme for the reception. We chose to have the décor in rustic colors and used lots of red roses to elevate the earthy color. We custom made all the décor elements in just 15 days. The entrance was a hexagonal shaped arch adorned with roots and red roses with some original tree bark props. As our couple did not want any stage set up and wanted to meet all the guests personally.  We installed two photobooth/ backdrop in a geometric shape. We used a lot of terrariums of different shapes and sizes filled with some candles and rose petals. There was an empty corner, which couldn’t be used for anything. So, we decided to turn that space into a beautiful customized installation which said ‘Love is all we need” with rose petals, candles and fairy lights which elevated the whole look of the venue.

The reception had the couple pop the champagne and had their first dance, which was so romantic and memorable.

Wedding Favor

The guests were given flavored nuts in ethnic potli bags along with customized Thank you tags as wedding favors.

Doesn’t this all sound so dreamy and straight out of a fairy tale? No wonder this wedding has been receiving accolades ever since we have been out with the pictures and videos. Right from the venue, the wedding décor, bride and groom’s stunning outfits to the impromptu Nati dance performed at the wedding, everything has been talk of the town.  Our couple’s trust in us and their super cool attitude made this wedding extraordinary, a wedding that will set trends for many weddings to come.

We have lived our couple’s dream along with them. We love and cherish every moment spent on planning this wedding.

Call us to make your fairytale wedding a reality.

Top Wedding Destination To Tie The Knot
Hey! If you are someone who is getting married anytime soon, a big congratulations and best wishes. And if, you are someone who is coordinating a wedding for your dear ones, then a big pat on the back for the good work! Weddings are a big deal and anyone who is getting married would agree that it is the biggest event of their life. You must be now chalking out plans – wedding destinations, caterers, flowers, decorators, guest list and all of that. We would love to help you plan all of that but, first, let us figure out your wedding destination. The most important part of a wedding is the destination. Wedding destinations are usually chosen to keep in mind the proximity of place, number of guests and obviously the wishes of the bride and the groom. Below are a few places that rank as the best wedding destination –
Udaipur
If you are a big fan of the weddings that Bollywood movies have always raved about, then the best place to go for your wedding is Udaipur. A lot of the palace from the bygone era have now been converted into hotels and given on rent for weddings. These palaces not only have a magnificent architecture but also well-manicured lawns, great food, pools, extravagant halls for all your functions and the magical touch of history. If you are getting married in Udaipur, given the history of the city, be assured that the wedding be a very royal wedding. It will have the pomp and show and the extravaganza. It will be like a dream wedding for the bride, who will feel like a princess with all the grandeur around her. Udaipur makes for a fantastic wedding destination as you can easily keep all your guests entertained by booking city tours and organizing various programs for them.
Jodhpur
Jodhpur or as the city is fondly known by the locals as the Blue City, has earned quite a reputation for being one of the most sought after wedding destinations. The city boasts of some of the best palaces and heritage hotels where one can get married. Apart from the pompous palaces that are booked regularly, a lot of people also like to get married at the various resorts on the outskirts of the city, in the middle of the desert. If you choose to get married in Jodhpur, be ready to have the wedding of your dreams. As a wedding planner, we usually make sure that each client that we work with feels like a true royal. Mostly, places like the Umaid Bhawan Palace or the Ranbanka Palace are booked by people apart from the other 5 star hotels in Jodhpur. You can have your guests stay at the venue or any nearby hotel. The wedding and all other functions happen at the booked venue. However, you can also get tours booked for all the guests for a city tour or desert safari and more. Local cuisine meals, Rajasthani dancers or singers can also be booked for entertaining the guests. Places like On The Rocks, Pulse or the Republic of Sports are the best places to have your bachelorette or any party with your close friends before or after the wedding. These places also happen to have special offers for newly-weds or a big party. Nothing beats good food, good music and big glasses of your favorite poison.
Jaipur
When we think of Jaipur as a wedding destination, we can imagine the regal décor, simple yet elegant arrangements, grand gestures of entertainment and a huge spread of food and drinks. In short, Jaipur is the go-to place for an over the top wedding. The Pink City promises all the brides and grooms that get married here, a wonderful and memorable wedding. If you are contemplating whether Jaipur is the right choice or not, read on and find out how to have a fairytale wedding in Jaipur. First of all, the city has abundant options of venues from age-old Palaces like The Raj Palace, Shahpura Haveli, Jai Mahal Palace, Rambagh Palace or the Hotel Mansingh Palace. These venues have those tall, dome-shaped roofs with grand entrances and smooth, reflective floors. Once the decorator puts up the floral arrangements and the organza, it will look nothing less than a real-life Bollywood worthy wedding. You can also choose from the plethora of 5-star properties for other functions and the accommodation. One thing that will make sure that each guest remembers the wedding is the hospitality. Rajasthan is known far and wide for their warm and welcoming people. Throughout the stay, the guests will be looked after and pampered nicely as they gear up for the final day.
Goa
As a couple, if you are looking for a fun getaway with all your friends and family then Goa has to be on the top of your possible wedding destinations list. This place not only has lovely beaches but they also double up as the most romantic wedding destinations. Imagine tying a knot while the sun is setting, the barbecue is lit and all your friends and family have gathered around. A lot of people fly down to Goa with their close friends and family for a beach wedding and to thoroughly enjoy their time as they come together in matrimony. There are a lot of options for wedding venues in Goa. For instance, you can get permission and get married on a secluded beach area or, you can book a hotel which is on a beach and then have the entire property at your disposal. Another plus point is that in Goa, the food and alcohol are quite cheap so it becomes easier to take care of all the guests and their varied requests. Other than this, you can choose from various pubs, discos, and casinos to have a good time after the wedding. If you choose to get married in Goa, not only will be it a great wedding, you will also have time to enjoy a mini honeymoon.
Alibaug
Alibaug has now become the go-to place for weddings. It is a small city located off Mumbai coast and has recently become a hub for all the parties and a lot of weddings. This place has everything – stunning beaches, best hotels, great scenic views, and a lovely weather. It is like a mini vacation for all your friends and family. Alibaug is also not as crowded as a lot of other places since people only come here during the weekends. If you are looking for a private yet dreamy wedding, Alibaug should definitely be considered. This place can cater to all kinds of demands – beach wedding or a typical big, fat Indian wedding. You can also hire a yacht and have some fun on the deck as you sail smoothly with friends and family. A very modern and practical wedding destination, Alibaug has stolen many hearts.
Lonavala
Lonavala is a very convenient wedding destination for those who live in Mumbai or Pune. It is just a couple of hours away and one can easily drive down from either of the places. Another thing that makes it so popular is the fact that there are numerous resorts, hotels, and clubs in Lonavala where you can book rooms and have a grand wedding. Another thing that adds charm to a wedding in Lonavala is the fact that this city is the perfect destination for holidays as well. The venue which will be booked for the accommodation and wedding will also double up as a short getaway for all your guests. You can have pool parties, go for adventure games at the theme parks or just chill in the lounge areas. If you are someone who is looking for an easy going wedding with just close friends and family, then you should choose Lonavala for your perfect wedding.
Thailand
Thailand also happens to be a very sought after wedding destination as it is closer to home but there is no cutting down on the fun that one can have in Thailand. It has some great beaches but it also has a lot of temples for the religious bunch. You can have a quick, religious ceremony in the day at a temple and then bounce to the beach to celebrate your big day and have a lot of fun! For those who want a beach wedding but find Goa to be very common, can simply fly all their guests down to Thailand and have a lot of fun. For the perfect, beach wedding all you need to do is to have a nice decorator, caterer, and the priest. And if you let us plan a wedding, we will take care of everything like it’s our own!  There are hot and happening tourists spots like Krabi town, Phi Phi Islands, Bangkok or Pai where you can have the time of your life. A big, fat Indian wedding at a beach is the best and the most enjoyable combination, ever. You can have local music, food, a great DJ, all sorts of drinks flowing unconditionally and have a gala time. Thailand has recently become a big fad as a wedding destination and that is because it is packed in itself. You can book tours of the city, book a secluded beach for the wedding and get blessings at one of the temples.
Dubai
Dubai has recently become the go-to place for everything- vacation, weddings, shopping, food enthusiasts and those who seek adventure. As a wedding planner, Dubai is a personal favourite. It has the best hotels, resorts which are magnificent. If you have the big bucks, The Palm Jumeirah, the Al Burj and even the Atlantis can be booked for your guests and all the functions. A wedding in Dubai can be very overwhelming in a good way. You can treat your guests to some tasty date b ased desserts, meat delicacies, and good wines. Apart from the food, you can also book some a troupe for belly dancing, light show, musical evening and more. One thing that adds up will be great city travel tours for all your guests at very reasonable prices. A must is the desert safari and a day living the king life in the middle of the desert. So if you’re looking for a grand, Arabian Sheikh like a wedding with all the best things then Dubai should be your first choice! I hope this list helps you and you have a great wedding and a happily ever after. On a side but a very serious note, we are frequently asked whether a destination wedding is more expensive as compared to a wedding organized in the same city. Well for this our answer would be two-fold – Firstly, if you are looking for a very grand wedding with a never-ending guest list, then yes, a destination wedding will cost you a fortune. Secondly, if you only plan to call your close friends and family then a destination wedding is a good idea. Usually, when people choose a destination for their wedding, the guest list automatically comes down. Plus, only because it is a destination wedding does not mean that it has to be expensive. If you plan properly with the help of a good wedding planner and do it much in advance, you can bag some great deals. #WeddingPlanners #destinationweddings #DestinationWeddingPlanners#IndianWeddings #IndianWeddingPlanners #RoyalWedding#BigFatIndianWedding #RajasthanWedding #UdaipurWedding#IndianBrides #TeamJanviDave #JanviDaveEvents

  • Mehendi: Mehendi or henna is an auspicious ingredient and it is put in a cone through which people apply on the palms of both the bride and the groom. This function takes place one or two days prior to the wedding and people generally call mehendi They beautifully adorn the bride’s palms with traditional mehendi designs. After the bride, every other lady gets a chance to apply mehendi on their hands. The Indian wedding planner often has to organize the after mehendi party.
  • Haldi: This is the ceremony that takes place on the morning of the wedding. The families of both the bride and groom apply haldi or turmeric paste on their body. The family members apply the haldi to their body and bless them for their future. People sing traditional songs as the timing remains auspicious for them. The haldi paste has to purify properties and so it becomes an integral part of the Indian wedding.
  • Reception: A reception party follows the wedding and it caters to several people at a time. The party becomes eclectic and the couple can finally be together. They dance and enjoy themselves. The Indian Wedding planner often has to design and organize innovative things for this date. Families may organize DJ music or may also call for a traditional musical orchestra.
